Marcie Sawyer has worked with the children at Faith
Community Church in a variety of ways in the past several years.
Beginning when she was in the 9th grade and
continuing throughout high school, she volunteered from September – May in
AWANA, a 2-hour per week program for children. She worked with 5-8 year
olds and her responsibilities included record keeping as well as supervising
children during games, story time, seatwork, and song time. Marcie is now
the Director of the 5-8 year old program and has a team of volunteers that
she supervises.
She was the director for 4 to 5 years age group, at the
same time she was the director of the Christmas musical program that all
ages were in.
While working in the AWANA program, Marcie has also
taken on the responsibility of producing our children’s Christmas musical
program. As Director, she coordinates the rehearsals, props, sets,
costumes, and marketing materials necessary for a successful presentation.
During this time, she also communicates effectively with parents and
co-workers to complete the process.
Marcie has taught the 4 & 5 year olds in the Sunday
school program since 2001 and has worked in the nursery with infants through
4 year olds. In the nursery, her duties include supervising free play
activities both indoors and outdoors, snack time and diapering and bathroom
necessities.
Marcie has been a dependable volunteer who is easy to
work with, takes direction well and is well received by the children. I
would recommend her for any position working with children or director
position.

To Whom It May Concern:
My son Tyler has been in Marcie Sawyers pre
school program for 2 years. When he started at 4 he was having trouble
speaking clearly. We thought it was just a phase that all kids go through
and would grow out of. She helped us identify that there could be a problem
and sent us information that we could get him tested and get the speech
therapy that he would need. We called the information and got him tested and
found out that he did need the speech therapy and enrolled him in a free
program with the school and worked with her and the school to have him
picked up and dropped off at her house so he can go to school and get some
more help with speaking properly.
Also he has come home every day with arts and craft
projects that helped him learn his numbers, letters, shapes and colors among
many more things. Tyler learned at 4 years old how to write his name, count
up to 30, all his colors and ABC’s. When we had Tyler tested for
Kindergarten he tested at a first grade level and I do believe this is all
because of Marcie’s pre-school efforts in her own childcare program. Now my
2 year old is going through her program and I believe will be just as
advanced as Tyler. I would recommend Marcie Sawyer to teach child in her
preschool program. She is well acquainted with the Pre-School/Kindergarten
curriculum and works well with the parents to let them know what she has
worked on with their child and if she thinks they are having issues she
knows the references to help the parents and child get the help they need.
